Free books to the elementary school of Arvi


Rotary Club of Iraklio visited one of the most remote schools of Iraklio prefecture, that of Arvi in Viannos municipality.







It is the second time that this school of the border is visited by the rotarians. Once again, they had numerous great gifts in their luggage for the pupils of the elementary school.

Since yesterday 600 books are stored in the bookcases of the school library, as well as a fully equipped personal computer, a video projector, a fax machine and a photocopy machine, which will help teachers and pupils alike to adapt to modern educational techniques and they will surely contribute to normal scholar operation.

The headmaster of the school, father Stilianos Georgianakis, thanked the donators for this important offer and gave an honourary plaquette to the president of Rotary Club, Mr. Giorgos Tsoumpas.














The president of the rotarians accentuated that "the children and the family lie in the center of interest of global rotary movement, and for this reason we are here in this remote school, where the needs are surely more numerous". On behalf of Viannos municipality, vice Mayor Mr. Manolis Karagiorgakis thanked the donators.
