Donation of a playground to Nikos Kazantzakis municipality




On Sunday 28/11/2004 the inauguration of the playground that Rotary Club of Iraklio donated to the children of the elementary school of Kounavoi took place. In the modest ceremony of the inauguration participated many, among them the mayor Mr. Roussos Kipriotakis, the director of the elementary school Father Zaharias Adamakis, the local counsilor Ms. Eleni Dimitriadou, the president of local council Mr. Stratis Kariofillis, the president of the cultural club of Kounavoi Ms. Eleftheria Zoaki, the president of RCI Mr. Epameinondas Charonitis, as well as many rotarians.




The director of the school took first the word to thank Rotary Club for this offer in the local society of Kounavoi, while the president of RCI in his turn thanked the director of the school and the mayor Mr. Kipriotakis for their kind words. He also described Rotary and its aims in few words and wished that its example would be followed by other associations or clubs. After the cutting of the inauguration ribbon from the Mayor and the President of RCI, the children broke into the playground area and started playing and singing.

Next, cultural club of Kounavoi donated the images of St. Panteleimonas and St. Charalambos to the president of RCI as an offer of love and appreciation towards the Club.
After the end of the ceremony, a dinner followed in a class of the school, offered by the association of parents to the visitors. A very successful exhibit ended. The effect of Rotary for the municipality and the surrounding area was important.
