Memorial of lost Rotarians

One of the standard obligations of a christian family is to
remember the lost. To recall their memory. To commemorate
them. To pray to the church and to organise memorials for
these souls' beatitude and repose.
Rotary Club of Iraklio, being a big christian family, does
not forget to commemorate every year for all of its member
that are no longer alive. They are not dead, because dead
is only who is forgotten.
Therefore, on Sunday 28 November of this year the Memorial
of lost Rotarians took place at the church of Saviour's Metamorphosis,
in the scenic and hospitable village Kounavoi. This church
is unique all over Greece, as it has five domes. It is built
according to the byzantine style and it is cross-shaped, while
there is another church like that at Torino, Italy.
Father Zaharias Adamakis, director of the Elementary School
of the village, officiated. Along with us a big crowd worshipped,
while we were honoured by the presence of the Mayor of Nikos
Kazantzakis municipality, where Kounavoi is located.
After the end of the ceremony, there was coffee offered at
the cafe of Fani and Georgios Tsagarakis, where the mayor
Mr. Roussos Kipriotakis honoured us, as well as Father Zaharias
and many people from Kounavoi.
